The AI Stat That Will Blow Your Mind

A glowing laptop shows the potential of technology.

71% Of Social Media Images Are Now AI-Generated.

Take a second to think about this.

While the development of AI has been in the works since the 1950s, it's been moving at a snail's pace until recently. In 2023, AI surged to relevance with its sudden proficiency in generating content that can rival and replace generic internet content. To top it off, AI is accessible to anyone with a computer. It's radically changing the generation of content and making strides toward greater capabilities daily.

If you consider this statistic, it means that over half of the images you see in your time online aren't real. The scariest part is that it's getting harder to tell what's AI generated and what's an original. A content shift like this causes questions about the future, but the thought that hits closest to home is, what does this mean for businesses? How do we know that the products or services we're looking to purchase are actually being portrayed honestly?

We've narrowed it to 3 quick tips to help you sort out the difference:

1. Verify all advertising.

Based on this stat, you’re highly unlikely to be looking at something that’s not enhanced. It’s not a huge problem if you fact-check to see that you can at least get that kind of quality from the company advertising the product. You have to verify it isn’t all fake. Can the company in question make good on their offer? If you're shopping for interiors, clarify consistency for the brand across all social platforms and their website. At YTI, we have furniture catalogs on our website to showcase our ability to deliver on what we advertise. See for yourself that you can have the quality in person that you're seeing online.

2. Look at actions, not promises.

Any company can promise you satisfaction from their product. The reality of this technological age is that those products that looked too good to be true before most likely are now. However, just because AI has been used to propel or smooth over details doesn’t mean that a company can’t make good on their promise. You just need to focus on how they act externally and internally. Are they ahead of the curve and using AI to make your customer experience better or show you the capabilities of products and services they can provide? Or are they using AI to portray something you won’t get? Take a look at their website. Do they have a customer-focused experience? Do they give real life examples? The YTI website has both examples of what we could do and what we have done through our case studies.

3. Observe the results.

Follow the company you’re interested in all the way through their selling process. What kind of results do they deliver? Some can’t come up with any positive feedback from previous customers. Others have reviews that don’t give specific examples of service and success, inviting scrutiny for their credibility. Look for names of employees and clear examples of problem solving. At YTI, we pride ourselves on excellent Google review records that you can find right under our website. Don’t settle for less.

With these tips in mind, you don’t need to worry about AI. When it’s aligned with quality and integrity, you can let it work for you.
