New Look, New Impact: Printing Impressions That Last with Emily
Emily smiles and shows off her blog about rebranding.
Hey there! 👋 I’m Emily, the Print & Promo Project Coordinator at YTI.
I’m excited to share my take on a trend that’s sweeping across the industry right now: rebranding.
Rebranding is a buzzword in the business world because it’s gaining traction for many companies in their movement toward progress in a changing business climate. Check out Starbucks returning to their roots with their new uniform policy and Target simplifying their logo to the singular bullseye. It’s a trend, but it’s also a smart move for appealing to new audiences and focusing on your brand where it will build the most momentum for your company. Sometimes, it isn’t that you aren’t doing enough. It’s that you are in the middle of a developing system, and your business needs you to move forward. Your demographic is shifting, and your message needs some refreshing, so you look at rebranding.
But here’s the thing: rebranding isn’t just about a new logo. It’s about how your brand shows up visually and emotionally across every touchpoint. The tough thing about a rebrand is that it requires time and effort to realign your brand with the direction you want your company to grow in. My work in print and design has shown me how much thought goes into this process. From logos and color palettes to flyers and letterheads, a rebrand touches everything. But I’ve also seen how powerful it can be when done right, aligning with your company’s growth, your vision, and your audience. Your rebrand can be a time to reconnect with what makes your company special and vital to the business environment. You just need the right partners in making these changes and some tips for how to start. You’ve got to focus on how your rebrand will come across in the basics: what people actually see and hold in their hands.
Ready to dive in? Here’s my 5 quick tips for boosting your print rebrand:
1. Start With Your Vision
Rebranding isn’t just about aesthetics. It’s about purpose, and your aesthetic vision will follow with clarity and grace.
Ask yourself: what do you want your company to stand for, and has it changed from how you wanted to be perceived in the past? Think about how you want people to feel when they interact with your brand. Your printed materials should reinforce that feeling, from your brochures and folders to your business cards and signage. What style speaks your message? What font choices will accentuate your brand atmosphere? These questions will be vital when preparing your new print materials.
2. Think Like a Customer
Put yourself on the receiving end. If this business card landed on your desk, would you be curious enough to reach out? Would your brochure convince you to learn more? If not, it might be time to rethink how you’re visually presenting your message. At YTI, we proof every change to our clients so that they can edit and re-edit their design until it’s perfectly aligned with their new brand. Don’t settle for less than that, because your print materials will show it.
3. Color Choices Matter
Colors speak volumes, sometimes more than words. Think about your reaction to different color schemes in your favorite businesses. What do they reinforce for your comfort as a patron? As an example, Henry Ford Health leans into cool blues to represent trust and healing. Netflix uses striking red and black to illustrate confidence and dynamism in their content. At YTI, we use a bold purple and green color palette to emphasize premium quality and vitalized growth. What colors make your message ease into your client’s emotions and build brand awareness? If you aren’t sure, we can help you!
4. Create Connection
In this digitalized world, we crave something real. The way your brand looks and feels, even on a printed flyer, makes a lasting impression. Your prospective clients want to see authenticity and consistency from your brand. You need your brand to reach people through first impressions, and that means bids for connection. Pick your primary audience and adjust your style to appeal to them.
5. Think Beyond the Now
The hardest part of rebranding is figuring out where you want your brand to go, but that’s also the most exciting part. Ask for feedback. Take the time to invest in designs that represent your next chapter, not just the current one. We’re here to work with you and adjust to your brand’s growth in a way that is seamless and exciting for you.
